“17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be that person?18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” -1 John 3:17-18
My wife and I recently moved and during the move I looked at the clothes in my closet and realized that I had tons of stuff that I never wore. I went through and bagged everything up and donated it to a local charity. Someone in our community that has a need for clothes will get them and be blessed.
How many people do you come in contact with every day that have a need that you and help meet? My wife and I have a need for a lawn mower. We are responsible for mowing the yard at the house we are renting, but we don’t own a mower. In talking to our neighbors they stated we were free to use their mower as long as we helped with gas. My neighbors aren’t Christians and don’t go to church, but are living this out.
We need to understand that we are in this together. The world tells us to be selfish and that we’ve worked hard for what we have, but the Bible tells us to be generous with what we’ve been given. I’ve heard of people who love to clean…cleaning houses for people who need it. I’ve heard of people donating cars that they don’t use to people that need them for work. I’ve heard of people helping organize a house for a person who needed help with being organized.
We all have something that God has blessed us with that we are to share with those around us….what can you share today?
