When I was a kid my my mom and I would take long bike rides on the back-roads of a small Indiana town. We would spend hours every week cruising around these roads enjoying the scenery. There was a turn towards the end of our regular route where the pavement switched to gravel. I was able to ride my bike with grace, but when it came to going around that corner and transitioning to gravel I was very graceless. Time after time my mom and I would round that corner and the tires of my bike would slide on the gravel and I would come crashing to the ground. We continued on this path and eventually I conquered that turn. It was through this perseverance that I was able to accomplish the transition.
In your life you’ve probably had something similar that has been a frustration. Your frustration may not have caused you bumps, bruises or cuts but you felt it. Your frustration may have felt like you were in the ring with the heavyweight champion of the boxing world. You may have felt like time after time you were punched in the face and stomach. You may have been knocked down time after time and found yourself barely able to get back up. You may be in that situation right now. You may be down, but you’re not down for the count!
When you find yourself down let Him pick you up. The famous Vince Lombardi once said “It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.” So it doesn’t matter if you get knocked down 100 times…just make sure you get up 100 times too.
