2 Corinthians 4:9a- We are pursued (persecuted and hard driven), but not deserted [to stand alone (AMP).
Honestly, I’m not much for sports but that all changed the day I found out about St Paul and the New York Yankees. Those Yankees sure hold some great records.
Derek Jeeter has an At Bat record of 8,884 and beats even the mighty Babe Ruth with 2816 hits.
Babe Ruth’s batting average was .349, Lou Gehrig leads in doubles with 534 and Mickey Mantle leads in games with 2401.
Babe Ruth tops left-handed home runs with 659 while Joe DiMaggio got 361 right-handed ones.
All well and good you say…but where is St Paul in all of this?
Let me explain.
Mickey Mantle holds the record for strike outs at 1710. One of the greatest players ever struck out 1710 times…but St Paul and his pals?????
2 Corinthians 4:9-We are pursued (persecuted and hard driven), but not deserted [to stand alone]; we are struck down to the ground, but never struck out and destroyed. Wow!
And why not?
2 Corinthians 4:1-Therefore, since we do hold and engage in this ministry by the mercy of God [granting us favor, benefits, opportunities, and especially salvation], we do not get discouraged (spiritless and despondent with fear) or become faint with weariness and exhaustion.
How stands our personal record in the strike-out zone?
Prayer- Lord, help us to always be like St Paul and never strike out, but instead hit homeruns for you.. In Jesus’ name. Amen
