Do you like rules? Do you like to be told how fast you can go? how much you can eat? what you can say? who you can associate with? Most folks have a tendency to push rules to the limit….and maybe a bit beyond. Quite often we who test the limits and risk the consequences find ourselves in difficulties we’d rather not endure. We are the ones who get the tickets, take the Tums, are admonished for our words, and criticized for our associates. Yet when we give our lives to Jesus, He gives us new life, new desires and our love for Him compels us to want to live as He lived, to talk as He talked, to walk as He walked, and to love as He loved. We want to live in obedience to His commands.
“Trouble and anguish have found and taken hold of me, yet Your commandments are my delight.” Psalm 119:143
I am so fortunate, so blessed. I have the commandments of the Lord in which to delight. They guide me and keep me on the right track. I have the promises of God and the assurance of His Word to feed my soul in days ahead. I know Him and I know what He has purposed for me and all those who believe. But what of those who do not know or want to know my Lord? Is there more I can do or say?
My heart is burdened for those without a Savior. My spirit cries out to the all-compassionate Sovereign Lord. Let me lead someone to You. Let me be bolder, more assertive, more sensitive to your voice. “Let me live that I might praise You, and let Your decrees help me.” Psalm 119:175 selahV
