“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.” (2 Corinthians 1:20, NIV)
Life has a way of knocking the wind out of our sails. The trials we face day in and day out overwhelm and discourage us. Distraction creeps in and before long we find ourselves inundated with doubt and worry, somehow forgetting that there is a loving God who knows and promises to meet our every need. What if we truly believed?
God has given us his Word to assure us of his promises for protection, provision, and peace; to strengthen us for the spiritual battle we face each day; and to fill us with the hope and encouragement we need to live in a world besieged by problems, worry, and fear. Yet few of us take him at his Word and walk in the victory that is ours as believers. Instead, we rely on our own intelligence, emotions, and resources to carry us through each day. For many, God’s Word is regarded as antiquated, outdated, and irrelevant, but nothing could be further from the truth!
What is your greatest need today? Is it money to pay the bills and feed your family? God promises to supply all our needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Perhaps your greatest need is the assurance that your rebellious teenager will one day come to his senses and that all those seeds of faith, truth, and love you have sown into his life will bear the fruit of repentance and a life committed to loving and serving the Lord. The story of the Prodigal Son in the fifteenth chapter of Luke gives us hope of God’s redemption for our lost loved ones.
Just imagine how glorious life could be if we truly believed God and took him at his Word! Dare to believe today and walk in the victory that is yours in Christ.
