When EVERYTHING becomes TOO MUCH!

Life can certainly feel out of control!  With chauffering the kids, church ministry responsibilities, home and lawn care, shopping, etc. etc. etc., the panic sets in.  A lot of us know the feeling of an anxiety attack when we’re wondering how everything will get done.  I’m learning that when I can’t figure out how to make it happen, God steps in, when I’m seeking His will.

I love the verse in Philippians 4:13:  “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”  (KJV) Honestly though, when I’m feeling overwhelmed, it doesn’t feel like enough help.  I want more!  I need something concrete like extra hands, more time, and roller skates.

Then I read Philippians 4:19:  But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Okay, that’s better.  I can start to relax.  God has it all under control, even if I don’t.  He can supply the help I need.  So when’s the lawn guy showing up to do the mowing?

The other day I was desperately wanting lawn maintenance service just to handle the big stuff.  That can be expensive, so it was out of the question.  At the same time I was supposed to being doing the annual yard cleanup, I was supposed to be at church doing cleanup.  On top of that, I had a laundry list of responsibilities that also had to be accomplished in the SAME DAY!  Talk about feeling overwhelmed, I had no idea how it was going to come together.

In hindsight I see God’s hand at work.  While I couldn’t juggle it all, He made it happen.

It feels like a miracle!  My grown son graciously agreed to take care of the lawn while I worked at church.  Other responsibilities fell into their special niche of time and were accomplished.  How did it all get done?

I’m only sure of one thing, God.  The relief and joy in seeing a plan come together more than makes up for the angst.

Life is sometimes out of our control, but God is able to handle it.  “For with God, nothing is impossible. (Luke 1:37)

When everything becomes TOO MUCH, start praying!  God will help.  He can orchestrate even the most impossible situations to a satisfying conclusion.  Don’t despair.  Be encouraged.  Oh and don’t forget, Satan likes us to feel overwhelmed so we’ll quit doing the very things God wants us to do.

Here’s the verse that cinches it for me:  “And He said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”  Luke 18:27
