Daily Devotional for June 12: Children are a Reward from the Lord (Psalm 127:3)

The Lord has blessed us with many good things, but none so precious as children. They are a source of endless joy and an affirmation of life itself. In them we see the continuation of our own lineage and the hope for the future. As parents, we have the privilege of nurturing these little ones and helping them to grow in faith. It is a sacred responsibility that comes with great rewards. Each time our children learn something new or accomplish a task, we feel a sense of pride and satisfaction. They bring us immeasurable happiness and fill our hearts with love. What a blessing it is to be a parent! Thank you, Lord, for the precious gift of children.

All Christians have a duty to teach and protect children. This is because children are the most vulnerable members of society, and they need adults to guide and care for them. Unfortunately, there are many forces in the world that seek to harm children, both physically and spiritually. As Christians, we must do everything we can to protect them from harm. We must teach them about the love of God, and we must help them to grow into strong and responsible adults. Only then can we hope to create a better world for all.

Devotional Prayer for the 12th of June

Father, we thank You for the gift of children. They are a source of joy and hope, a reminder of Your faithfulness and goodness. We pray that You would bless them and keep them safe. Protect them from harm and guide them in Your ways. instill in them a love for You and others, and help them to grow into men and women who will honor and glorify Your name. Father, we ask that You would bless the parents and caregivers who have been entrusted with the care of these precious little ones. Give them wisdom and strength for the days ahead. Fill their hearts with Your love, so that they may show forth that love to their children in all they do. We praise You, Father, for the blessing of children, and we thank You for entrusting them to us. Amen.

June 12th Daily Scripture Reflection

Psalm 127 is a song of worship and praise to the LORD, the Giver of all good gifts. In particular, this psalm extols the gift of children, who are “an heritage of the LORD.” The word “heritage” can refer to both material possessions and intangible things like one’s beliefs or culture. In this context, children are seen as a blessing from the LORD, something to be treasured and protected. The psalm goes on to say that children are “the fruit of the womb,” meaning they are a natural product of human reproduction. But unlike other fruits of the earth, which eventually spoil or wither away, children are a “reward” that lasts for generations. They are a sign of the LORD’s faithfulness and love, and they remind us that we are never alone. Psalm 127 is a reminder that children are not only a source of joy in our lives, but also a tangible expression of the LORD’s love for His people.

Reflecting on how we can better protect the children God has given our community, we must first consider the spiritual needs of our children. Too often, we focus on physical safety to the exclusion of their spiritual wellbeing. We must create a safe and nurturing environment where our children can explore their faith and develop a personal relationship with God. This can be done through Sunday school, youth group, and other church programs. In addition, we need to be there for our children when they are struggling. We must be willing to listen to them, offer guidance, and provide support. By meeting their spiritual needs, we can help them to grow into strong and resilient adults.
